RE: [Inkscape-devel] Line skewing bug (851008)
Okay, so it sounds like the question becomes, what does the SVG spec say we need to do? Does the skewing transformation
Not only skewing, non-uniform scaling is also not reflected in the stroke.
result in a rendered object that is correct according to SVG
The object is perfectly valid as written into the SVG document, but displayed incorrectly.
and should be closed or recast as a more compliant feature request? Or else does it result in something which is not according to spec, that we'll need to figure out how to fix at some point?
Only rendering is incorrect, and we'll have to fix it one day, although I don't perceive this need as pressing at the moment.

I am on build 9 March, win32.
I noticed that it seems to take a variable time to bring up the Tutorial file and the Keys and Mouse file. Chasing it a bit further I got into "low on virtual memory" messages from windows and then crashes.
Details using Tutorial file.
1 Start Inkscape from scratch. Call up Tutorial. Takes about 7s to appear. Repeat from scratch. Tutorial takes about 5s. Repeat from scratch. Tutorial takes about 7s.
2 Start up Inkscape from scratch. First call up takes about 7s. Close that page and call up again takes 35s. Close and call up takes 25s. Close and call up takes 55s Close and call up gives me a "low on virtual memory" message.
Repeating that sequence gives me 5s, 40s, 30s, 50, 90s "virtual memory too low" message.
Details with Keys and Mouse file.
1 First call takes 30s, second call 65s, third call 65s, system hangs.
Repeat.
First call 30s, second call 65s, third call 3+ minutes, system hangs.
When the system hangs it really hangs. As in power off to fix!!
After a couple of calls of the Tutorial file, but before crash, I tried to use the Freehand tool and it gave very erratic performance indeed. Sometimes no curves, sometimes small straight sections instead of curves etc. Not a good scene.
cheers, vellum

What was the last build you tried that did not have this problem?
We should do a binary search and determine when it was introduced.
