png transparency displayed incorrectly
Since the image was to big, the email didn't get through... hence I now uploaded it to http://home.tu-clausthal.de/~dcb/linux/crayon.png (it's white with different opacity)
Hey guys:
I wanted to import the attached png to get the effect of crayons within inkscape... for some reason the transparency is displayed as being grey, at least partially.. any clues, why that might be? Same problem still exists on exporting to bmp...
Thanx in advance!
David

Works for me. No gray. Just white PNG with transparent spots, so it's invisible on white. If you overlay it over a colored background, you see the texture.

Issues with alpha premultiplication, probably. We don't get it right currently.

I'm only aware of premultiplication issues for special combinations of gradients and pattern fills. Nothing is wrong with bitmaps AFAIK.
Have you tried that file before commenting? It works perfectly for me.

it's pattern, I'm trying to use... didn't think there was a difference....

Indeed - when it's turned to pattern it becomes wrong. Could you please file a bug with that file. Pattern compositing is indeed borky, I noticed that before with gradients as well.
