I fixed marker previews. Now all markers (no matter where they come from, i.e. both from the current document and from markers.svg) are automatically shown with their icons in the start/mid/end menus in the Fill&Stroke dialog. No need to provide a preview object in markers.svg; that file needs only contain the markers themselves in <defs>.
Simarilius wrote a small tutorial on how to create new markers. It's in share/tutorials/making_markers.svg. It's not in the menu because it's supposed to be temporary until we have a GUI facility for doing the same in a convenient way.
I also tweaked markers.svg: provided 3 coordinated sizes for most useful markers, removed some not-so-useful ones, and generally cleaned them up. I would add more markers, but the menus become difficult to handle when they grow too long. What we need instead is a palette-like widget where marker icons can be shown in several rows/columns.
