Hi there,
Please excuse if this has already been discussed, i could not find anything similar in the archives.
So, I have a proposal, as svg natively does not really support "layers" but inkscape seems to mimic layers by adding a group with custom xml-attributes.
How about trying to be closer to native svg/xml standard and have something similar to a "layer" (common fill, stroke,... attributes) solved by using class-attributes? Currently to me there seems to be no way to list all objects belonging to a group except for the xml-editor. That makes it really hard to use, but anyhow i saw there is an object manager coming in 0.92
With the current design i can't guess a way to have groups of objects being on different layers. Patterns for example could have pieces on a layer to cut, a layer to mark and so on...
What do you think?
best regards, Simon
