It's visible in those modes which it affects.
Yes, I see now that the rotation value doesnt seem to be shown anywhere after
rotation is done, which is why it may not apply to Inkscape (/SVG) in this
instance. Or have I missed where this is stored too? :)

Ah, you mean you want the X/Y values in the selector controls to be
switchable to different corners of bbox? That might make sense, with a
small grid of toggle buttons to choose one of the corners or mid-sides
or the center.
Yes.. thats basically it. In Scribus it is also used for the rotation centre.
