1. Add a gradient fill to shape A, then combine it exclusively with another shape B to leave the remainder of shape A. If you copy then paste A, it gives you back the correct shape but filled only with black instead of the gradient.

I cannot reproduce this as described. This can be either bug 853858 or 901978. If neither of these two fits your situation, please submit a new bug with detailed steps to reproduce and an attached sample file.

2. Add a gradient fill to shape A, then combine it exclusively with another shape B to leave a shape that is originally smaller than the original shape A. The gradient fill is scaled to the new shape rather than keeping it's settings relative to the new shape size as is most likely desired.

Again, I cannot reproduce this. Please file a bug with an attached sample.
