I was looking to start planning my trip to Victoria and visited http://www.svgopen.org/ and saw a change in dates. I didn't see anyone else mention it on the list, so here goes... SVG Open has been postponed to October 16-19 in favor of a significantly better venue. I'm not sure who plans to go other than myself, so I figured I would share anyway.
As for anyone else who is planning on going, we should probably start to try and figure out some basics. It's probably not too early to discuss such things (I'd like to at least know what others are planning on).

Josh, Kurt Cagle who is coordinating the conference has indicated he would like to have an entire Inkscape session so anyone thinking of going and would like to present should put together an abstract and send it in (note abstract acceptance dates have also been pushed back). An inkboard demo might be very cool.
It might be cheaper to fly into Seattle, rent a car and drive up (think it's only like 2-3 hrs). And for you cold weather sports fans, don't forget Vancouver is host of next Winter Olympics(2010) so you can check out some of the sites there and in Whistler. Oh and there's Husky football on Sat 14th against Oregon for you Portland folks. It feels light years away but my guess is that I'll fly up Fri to spend time with close friends in Seattle but will drive up to Victoria on Sun pm so if someone needs a ride from Sea-Tac airport let me know. I think you can also take a ferry from Seattle to Victoria - that might be very cool too.

That is great news ! I live in Ottawa, but my brother lives in BC, and I've yet to visit there. I'm strongly considering attending this event; I love conferences ! Maybe if I get accepted for the SoC position **crossing fingers**, I could present or write a paper on the work I accomplish with Inkscape. Thanks for the news; I'm marking my calendar.

Justin, you should also plan to attend the Desktop Developer's Convention there in Ottawa. We're planning on having some good Inkscaper attendance this year, and it'd be great to see you there!

That'd be great. I think we can do an inkboard demo, although we'll have to be sure to bring some network gear and stuff. I would also recommend we have a skilled user give a presentation; users are the *best* for showing off and wowing the audience. ;-)
It might be good to also have an inkscape technical talk, focusing on internals, with the aim of spreading more knowledge of inkscape development details amongst our team.

I'll probably also be driving up (from Portland), and probably staying at my sister's. I can also lend a ride.

Well, I've submitted an abstract and talked to Kurt about submitting Inkscape as a "WOW" project and the possibility of doing some tutorials. But, I'm not as sure about being able to go in October... August was better for me :( But, I'm still planning on trying.
As far as organization goes, I think things like Inkboard demos would be best if we got a "WOW" slot. Not that I really know what that is. But, it sounds like an entire track of cool demos.

I'll be hassling a client for sponsorship to go.
Would love to do a 'pre-tested' demo ;-)

That is good...I've gotten into the last 2 svgopens, but couldn't go because they didn't offer $$$.
I have an abstract/paper ready to go as well...planning on attending...
