Fwd: Inkscape Wiki page User testimonials has been changed by Simarilius
My first reaction to this edit is that someone is afraid of some well stated reasons why Inkscape come up short for a particular individual. The posting has been on the wiki for over five years. Have the import/export capabilities of Inkscape been improved since then? That is, is it possible "Grant" cold now use Inkscape for his/her purpose?
I wish we could get "Grant" to provide some contact information on http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/User:Grant and encourage him/her to try again if the capabilities have been improved. Are you there, Grant?

I welcome user feedback, but theres a difference between feedback and a testimonial. The top of a page thats meant to be testimonials is not the appropriate place for someones feedback of that nature. to define it: tes·ti·mo·ni·al (tst-mn-l) n. 1. A statement in support of a particular truth, fact, or claim. 2. A written affirmation of another's character or worth; a personal recommendation. 3. Something given in appreciation of a person's service or achievement; a tribute.
Did that post reflect the above in any way? no, hence it gos. The fact that its been there 5 years is just a very sad reflection of how little attention we've been paying to our wiki.
thats my 2c anyways.

Grant has provided contact details at the end of his post. I guess his post should have been moved to the bug tracker. Right now, since it is so out-of-date and many things have happened on the pdf/eps-export front, the post has lost its value.
I think we should remove this page altogether. It is very out-of-date, but more importantly I do not like to have any user testimonials pro or contra on our own page. Testimonials are extremely subjective, and personally I just do not like to read 100 variations on "... rocks/sucks!" on any software's own website (or that it is better than some other program; most programs have non-overlapping feature sets and cannot be compared like that).
After removal I suggest: If a user is happy: encourage to write a tutorial on our wiki about something he likes so much. If a user is unhappy: encourage to write a bug report.
Ciao, Johan
