I'm not sure what kind of workflow you need to specialise in mindmap creation. I suspect that Inkscape can already so a lot of what you need and you should check out tutorials on youtube and in google to figure out what parts of your desired workflow are available.

As for future development. You only need to learn C++/python if you wish to create new functionality (or hire someone to do it for you) and at this stage, I don't think you know enough about what Inkscape can do for your workflow to say if you need anything new developed.

But generally, people do not need to program Inkscape.
