Re: [Inkscape-devel] Problem with the GTK file selector in KDE
I just checked in a code fix. Please try the current CVS and see if it fixes the problem. Also try to vary the "Dialogs are hidden in the
taskbar"
and "Dialogs on top" options and report which work best for you.
Okay, I'll try it. But two days ago I tried the CVS snapshot and the icons looked distorted/ugly...
I hoped we had left this problem behind. I never could reproduce it. Anyone else experiencing it?

Hi,

Yes. I can reproduce it. All post-0.38 CVS versions I installed (./configure; make; make install) had those rendering problems (icons and SVG documents). Anytime I install 0.38, it's OK. Anytime I install from CVS, it's bad.
I also tried to "make uninstall" 0.38 and then "make install" the CVS version, but to no avail.
Since 0.38 was installed first, I will do some testing on another (clean) system: will try to install from CVS first.

The very funny thing is that just before 0.38 I picked up a CVS snapshot and the icons looked ugly. In 0.38/0.38.1 they were/are fine. And now they are uglu again... I'm building the 2004-04-04 snapshot now... I'll report in just about 10 minutes if everything is okay.
Artemio.
Hello there!
I just installed the current snapshot, and...
1. The KDE problem is still here. If I launch the "open file" dialogue, and then switch to another desktop and back, this dialogue is gone and inkscape window is inactive and inaccessible. I have to kill and relaunch inkscape to solve the problem.
2. The current CVS looks ugly with it's icons. See the attachment.
Artemio.

Is the snapshot really current? Bulia removed the sticky zoom button, but the attached screenshot has it. How did you "cvs update"?

I used a .tar.bz2 snapshot that I downloaded two hours ago.

Try with the current version of dialog-events.cpp.

Hi,
Try with the current version of dialog-events.cpp.
dialogs/dialog-events.cpp:1: error: syntax error before `<' token
What if you just apply this modification:
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/inkscape/inkscape/src/dialogs/dialog-e...

Hey! It works!!! ;-) I copied this file into 0.38.1 tree and recompiled. It works! I can now open the file open dialogue, switch to another desktop and then back and the dialogue is there.
Thanks and good luck!
Artemio.
