Can you please post these numbers, just out of curiosity? As well as probably SP 0.33 numbers and our 0.36 numbers? That would give us a
sense of
competition, which is always good :)

We must beat SP 0.33 downloads. We have everything needed for that. I think we lagged behind with 0.36 simply because the Windows build was not ready in time, and Windows downloads are massive. Now we must push our no-hassle Windows builds more aggressivly.
Also, I suspect when we move CVS off of SourceForge it will reduce our SF rank subsequent to that.
Not really - I read that they are not counting CVS activity due to some issue. What can probably affect our rank is our posting the release news via the news tracker (this wasn't done for the last release).

Yes, in fact I'd like to give ourselves a couple days of time before when we cut the release tarball and when we announce, so there's time for folks to make and test binary packages for all the different platforms.

Hmm, that could be. It's hard to tell what exactly SF's stats are calculated from.
