Re: [Inkscape-devel] Xara and Inkscape comparison on Linux ActionShow
Yes, this would be superior functionality. Also, would be good for the color of the mask outline to correspond to a generic layer color. So, similar to illustrator, each of our layers should have corresponding selection color which we could use for this type of notification.
Also would be great to have ui to allow for selection of this layer selection color.
What do you guys think?
Jon

I really like this idea. We should probably also draw the outline of the clipping path shape when editing.

I don't think that should be limited to the clipping path alone. The present object selection cues are all somewhat lacking in that if the you zoom in on a part of the object closely enough, you can't see either the bounding box or that diamond thingy at the top right. It would make more sense to draw the actual outline of the object/path imho.
Other related improvement by way of selection cuing could include highliting explicitly selected path segments.
Just ideas for now; I actually haven't had time to look at the code yet, so i don't know how hard it'd be.

Hey Mathieu,
Long time no speak. :) It looks like there's some current discussion going on regarding the path highlighting. I know you really wanted to work on this a while back. So, I figured I would CC you to get your input as well as to ask if you'd still be interested in helping us work on it. I hope all is well (and that this email address is still good). :)
NOTE: Conversation cut down and re-arranged in order
