The Windows installer is up at sourceforge.net, and the tarballs are at Launchpad. We still need the portable version and the Mac bundle before we can announce the new release. Anyone up for it?
Regards, Krzysztof
Windows installer works for me but all text is very slow. Frustratingly slow :( To type in a word, or to select and to move.

Here's an OS X bundle:
If nobody else seriously will make the 0.48.5 portable installer for Windows, then I shall, I guess.

This OS X bundle was developed with *so* much help from ~suv. I am forever thankful for ~suv's help during the entire process, and testing for regressions and things I did incorrectly.

I have built ~suv's branch which is native OSX. Still testing. Again, if there is interest I can post it.

The osxmenu branch is based on trunk - this thread however is about the latest bug-fix release 0.48.5 in the stable series (lp:inkscape/0.48.x).
LiamW's package for 0.48.5 is X11-based, yes, but for OS X users it still offers a lot of improvements compared to the rather dated currently available 0.48.2 package (all bug fixes to the stable series from 0.48.3.1 - 0.48.5, as well as benefits from latest upstream versions of dependencies incl. bug fixes), without major changes in macosx packaging which may introduce risks of new regressions and overall instability.
Regards, V (aka ~suv)

Excellent!
The OSX bundle should be uploaded to SourceForge. Once that is done, we can update the links on the website and announce the release.

I have a build for 64-bit Windows which is virtually portable. Extract somewhere and double-click on the executable.
If there is interest, I can post the link and people can tell me if it's slow.

Fink's got it for OS X 10.7+ now (with a few bug/fixes filed on launchpad along the way).
