Hi again,
there's another page which could also profit from your feedback:
http://staging.inkscape.org/en/develop/about-svg/
I'd especially like to know if I understood the 'policy' related things correctly and if you have a link to add to the link section. Tav already helped by providing some keywords and some hints, but I'd like to know if I got it right before the page is published ;)
Currently, links are not yet working, this will happen only after the page is moved to the 'real' website.
Thank you, again ;)
Regards, Maren

Should be: «If you want to help with Inkscape development - no matter what area you'd like to contribute to - you won't get very far without familiarizing yourself with some of the basics of the SVG vector graphics file format. »
Perhaps this can be shortened to «You need to familiarize yourself with the SVG vector graphics file format, if you wish to help with Inkscape development.»

I think it should be "prides itself on being" instead.

Please consider correcting these suspected errors.

All the other corrections look good. This one above turns the paragraph into a negative tone though.
My suggestion would be: "Because SVG is Inkscape's central format, understanding the basics of SVG can be helpful when contributing to Inkscape's development."
Martin,
Should we have a link to w3schools on our site? I've heard so much bad things about it that I refrain from linking to it myself though the bad stuff might be history as of today, I very rarely end up there myself. The most valid point I have heard is that they don't keep the site up to date with new versions of different technologies and current "best practice" is not something that is discussed on that website. Although, I'm not a user of it myself so this is not first hand experience. -- Christoffer Holmstedt

Hi,
@Shlomi and Martin: thank you for your feedback! The wording is improved now.
@Christoffer: Thank you for the hint. The tutorial at w3schools covers only the basics, which do not change frequently (or at all, for backwards compatibility?), in easy terms, for beginners. SVG2 stuff is not yet incorporated, of course, but it still seems to be a good entry point to me - but I'll remove it, if there's consensus about not linking to a website which has a reputation for being out of date (the discontent mainly concerning the website structure itself and the quality of the PHP intro, it seems... There are many rants about <table>s and </br>s and asp and sql injections...).
When you find the time, you (or someone else with more profound knowledge about SVG than me) could check the tutorial in question for errors - it's not very long ;) Then we could base the decision upon hard facts ;)
Thanks again, Regards, Maren
