Hi all,
Are there any news on old plans to add multipage support to Inkscape?
Having multiple pages would be fantastic. We could then use Inkscape for the formatting of books and magazines, and pdf slides for talks.
No existing open source tools (except pure latex + beamer) can be used comfortably for the task (and I have been using them for years now.)

Try GIMP! Excellent for laying out books and magazines! :D
But seriously, you don't need multipage support to create PDF slides from Inkscape. I know at least two solutions for creating presentations and one of them is mentioned on the main page at inkscape.org.
And for books/magazines you definitely need a special advanced tool like Scribus.

Doh!

I'm hoping inkscape's support for multiples pages will help with production. But for now, I solved this issue with a script:

you might also want to consider pdfsam (www.pdfsam.org) an open source utility that does a great job of splitting and merging pdf files

Hello Albert,
at least there is a wiki page http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Multipage Valessio Brito made some impressive video about possible UI mock-up. See the links on that page.
The system how Adobe and Corel integrated Multi page support in their products is very different. I don't know which way inkscape goes.
I am more technical orientated and favour the Corel way.
If you have some ideas please complete the wiki page with your feed-back.
Adib.
