Re: [Inkscape-devel] NEW: Engraver's Toolbox
Hi,
The new engraver's tool is quite neat!
Now what is needed is an engraver's bucket fill by somehow defining a sort of fluid flow direction field to say which direction lines will be laid down, and perhaps then adjust line thickness and/or spacing based on color variations beneath, in order to facilitate making drawings of this (my) sort of style:

Though, I'd probably still use pens and paper since I love drawing so much. But it would make engraved animation much easier! For a really long time, I've wanted to animate something like a Durer print.

I'm not sure you can easily do such nonparallel hatchings with the current calligraphic tool, let alone fill spaces with it automatically. The current guide tracking is best used for parallel hatchings. But you can try to convert a parallel hatching to nonparallel, or variously curve, it, using node sculpting. Just combine all hatch strokes into one path with Ctrl+K, switch to node tool, select all nodes (Ctrl+A) and Alt+drag one of the nodes for various effects:
