The following SVG can be correctly exported to a bitmap, but it cannot correctly be printed on Windows and not correctly translated to PDF on either Windows or Mac.

AFAICT known issue which is mentioned in the manual: ".pdf (PDF) (...) Note, a pattern that consists of a Group created off the page may not work."

Current trunk does not even render the pattern fill on-canvas, and AFAICT also omits it in the exported PDF file (unset i.e. black fill instead).

Ah. That looks like an optimization issue (stuff not on the page not being rendered).

I can work around this issue by ungrouping everything repeatedly before printing or exporting.
