I made some modifications to the Inkscape code and tried to compile it on BSD 4.9 and autogen.sh has been running for more than a day. What is going on here? Is the source from the CVS tree simply uncompilable on BSD? Do I have to do my hacking by twiddling with the port?

What did it print out? It should have only taken a few seconds. All it tries to do is check for required development tools.
