considering you can do to-the-pixel hinting illustration with svg (usually smaller filesize footprint + the added semantic value)

On top of that you can potentially select which objects to show based on size with css media queries there is no argument that can be made against svg. Especially when it can encapsulate bitmap for those who prefer a raster workflow ( considering we've only just introduced all at once colour operations as an extension

I wouldn't give articles like that much of my time.
