I was doing it all this time, too bad nobody (except Mental) joined me. Thus, xml:space and page background color support are from SP (with my improvements), as well as many fixes. I urge everyone to do more of that. Just make a diff between SP releases and see what was changed, and if you see a change that you understand and think might be good for us too, port. It's actually a pretty interesting job that might help you get a good understanding of the codebase.
