Inkscape Status July 15, 2004
Inkscape 0.39 has been released!
It has been amazing to watch everything coming together over the past few weeks. Users have been very attentive to locating, reporting, and following up on wide ranges of bugs across an impressive range of platforms. Meanwhile developers have been grinding away at the bug list; the rate of bug fixing is astounding - it is not unusual for bugs to be fixed the day they're reported. The number of translations that have come in has also been impressive.

I think that a good statistic to keep here would be the number of translations that are better than some line, like 80%. I think that is the line that GNOME uses to signify 'translated'. It would stop the unmaintained translations from dragging the great translations we have down in the last statistic there.

Yeah, not a bad idea.
The script I use to acquire these numbers is Arpad's l10n_status bash script, located in CVS at inkscape_project/stat_collector. Perhaps someone could modify it to behave this way?

Num Translations:
Change the above title to "Num Translation Strings"

Maybe swap "Ave Translation Ratio" with "Num Significant Translations" or "Translated Locales"... anyway, here's what the end of the script spits out now:
Average translated: 405 ( 40 %), fuzzy: 270 ( 26 %), untranslated: 325 ( 32 %)
Total number of PO files: 32 Significantly translated PO file count: 7 Average number of strings translated: 999 ( 99 %) Significantly translated locales: de es hu pt_BR sl sr sr@...428...

I get a warning when I run this script on CVS HEAD on a Mandrake 9.1 box:
po/zh_CN translated: 151, fuzzy: 429, untranslated: 422, total: 1002 /home/bryce/src/Inkscape/inkscape_project/stat_collector/l10n_status: line 83: [: -ge: unary operator expected
Average expr: division by zero translated: 405, fuzzy: 270, untranslated: 325
Total number of PO files: 32 Significantly translated PO file count: 0 Average number of strings translated: ( %) Significantly translated locales:
But beyond that, I've added support for this new measure into the stat_summary script. :-)

Ahh, I was running it from the inkscape/ directory. Okay, I'll try fixing that.

Hmm, one issue is that it's reporting:
*** To get percentages, please make sure you have intltool-update ***
however I have intltool-update installed:
$ which intltool-update /usr/bin/intltool-update
It looks like in the script it's trying to call ../intltool-update, but since I'm running this without actually doing a compile of inkscape, it does not exist. Think we could use the installed intltool-update in this case?
