RE: [Inkscape-devel] Strange bug in Windows build?

The thing is that if I use the freehand tool ( or any other tool than the predefined shapes ), as soon as I release the mouse button the shape literally goes haywire, that is, it becomes a big spindly mess.
Never seen anything like it. The important questions is, do the actual nodes of the path become displaced to (0, -infinity), or is it only a rendering problem while the nodes are where they need to be? Can you save such a broken file? If so, is it displayed broken when you reopen it in the win build? or in linux build? If the saved SVG really becomes broken, please send it to me (and file a bug attaching your screenshots and the broken SVG). Otherwise this problem may be hard to solve because it will have to do with the renderer which is much more difficult to debug.

The file really becomes broken. The bottommost two garbled nodes for a star shape drawn with middle at 0,0 and height 30 (and then converted to shape), is somewhere near -637894 if that says anything to anyone. ( Incidentally I get the following warning when I stop drawing the star:
** (inkscape.exe:3704): CRITICAL **: file helper/curve.cpp: line 542 (void sp_cu rve_closepath(SPCurve*)): assertion `!curve->posset' failed
). But you'll probably see it in the attached svg file that there are freakish numbers showing... This used to be a small default values star... :(
I don't know about the linux build ( yet ), but it is displayed broken when I open it in here in Sodipodi-win, which I know should work.
please send it to me (and file a bug attaching your screenshots and the broken SVG).
No problem...
