Hi Martin,
Can we add a generation of the News items from the website into RSS? I feel think would be helpful to allow users to follow us at another level.
I've seen documentation for this here, but not sure if this is already something built into the django site already up. https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.6/ref/contrib/syndication/
Thanks,
--Jared

We have one, it's just not linked:
http://inkscape.org/en/news/feed/

Nice, thanks!
So I've placed a link on the http://staging.inkscape.org/ site below the "Recent News" heading for the feed as a mockup. An RSS image may be a nice brush-up, but what are thoughts of placement of a link in this location for the public website?
This could also be added to the "Latest News" page, but I don't have editing options there.
Finally, should we reconcile the two headings to match in text? Recent News vs. Latest News? In fact, the News page lists all news items, not just "latest" or "recent". Will this page eventually limit its article list?

The link looks great.
I think recent means "Recent first" rather than just a limit on which articles are there. Like all news from this year or this month.

Got that link on the public site now too. I'm ok leaving news headings as they are now.

+1
Back when I was maintaining the original inkscape site, people were always asking me about the RSS feed. (Well, mostly because it kept breaking... but it was definitely a popular item.)
This could also be added to the "Latest News" page, but I don't have editing options there.

Probably. I'd like to see more frequent news items, like we used to back in the day. If nothing else I intend to use it to help give visibility into board activities.
It would be nice someday to include old news items that pre-date the new website, for historical reference.

How old is old? Someone did go through and add a lot of old news to the website. I thought it was either jon or yourself. But it was a while ago, back in December I think.

Older than 2011.

*cough* ;)

It was around June. I never found the time to finish this work.
