I just tried it on Windows and there's the same problem... Hm... maybe it is just a gtk issue. I think I'll investigate this further on the gtk mailinglist. But I wonder why this works with Firefox without any problems.

And Gimp has more or less a mixture of it. It does not work the same way as with my German keyboard, but it is not so annoying as with inkscape or scim.

But this problem is really annoying. Almost unusable. Luckily, usually you don't have to enter long texts in inkscape, but in Abiword it's the same problem and really really annoying there.
