Hey all,
Aaron made a screenshot of his effects, everyone should take a look. Very cool stuff!

Thanks. I'm having a lot of fun.
Here's another shot. Showing off a little of Ted's AutoGUI work: http://www.ekips.org/comp/inkscape/inx/D0LSystem.png

Very cool. I'm guessing this is similar to the "L-System" in blender (which I think was ported from some windows app) that lets you define rules for how things branch out, giving lots of very different results? If so, that's great; I was thinking of suggesting it based on earlier screenshots.
However... when looking at this screenshot, and the very impressive results, it's not obvious that the power is there. Maybe, some time in the future, this could be abstracted a little more, with a "gallery" of results?
For example, you might see something very similar to this screenshot in a "feature" icon, and be able to tweak that a little, rather than having to start from scratch with strange numbers and rules?

Err, "feather". Sorry, it's early :)

It probably is similar to L-Systems in blender but only 2d. I've only known about L-Systems since Monday. I found them while I was looking for extension ideas.
It sounds line you are suggesting a favorites-like approach to saving effect preferences. I don't think it is possible with the current implementation. We'll have to see what Ted thinks.

Hmmm, I'm thinking that wouldn't be too easy in the current structure of things... so, while I definitely think it is interesting, I'm not going to put it too high on my todo list. (ofcourse, patches always welcome)

Man, that is so awesome! This dev. is really starting to pick up extensions work! Keep it up!
