Thanks, what is the ETA for this switchover?
Last week of November was my target date. I'm confident it'll be switched by next week. We have OSL on the ticket today for the new mysql database and I've got everything from the repo to the nginx config ready.
Once live.inkscape.org points to py1, it can be tested. Once it checks out, inkscape.org and www.inkscape.org can be pointed to the same.
Martin,
Hi Martin,
Where do we sit with getting the new site online? I assume we just need a DNS switchover at this point; if so, do you have a contact person for doing this switch?
I've had a few people contact me about making donations recently, so given google checkout is going away, it'd be helpful to get the new site up asap.
Also, can you draft up a short intro guide to explain how to sign up for an editor account, and how to add content, news items, etc. to the site?

Bryce,

We've been waiting for an issue with OSL's mysql to be resolved; but I've gotten tired of waiting and have instead deployed the emergency sqlite3 option. The machine load is very low and it's only serving our websites.
But keep an eye open for any performance issues. I can always move us over to the mysql database later.

Yes, so the website is available at the machine name: http://py1.osuosl.org/en/ I've tested a few of the items, but more testing would be good.
When comfortable, who ever controls the DNS needs to move inkscape.org over to py1's ip address. I think this might be a board issue since it's keys.

The guide is here: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/WebSite
And I've been updating it as we go.
Hope this helps,

Turns out it's not actually a board issue.
Who are you working with on the osuosl side? I'll chase things down directly from here.

Ian Caldwell has been the main contact (not OSL). Within OSL; Daniel Takamori, Sean Rettig and Rudy Grigar have all done support via their RT system.
I can make a support ticket for the DNS if OSL are managing that too.

Is he still active/reachable? He's probably who we'll need when we shut down the old site.

Sounds good.

Thanks, but I'll handle it... it'll probably be more official coming from me and I need to follow up with SFC anyway, but I've CC'd you on the ticket, so feel free to chime in. I'd like to better understand the DNS change process, since I may want to adjust (or at least document) procedures to make it easier next time we go through this.
What you could help with right now is chasing down some of the registration problems folks have reported. Once we get that sorted, then we'll have more peoplepower for getting content fixes in.

Been on that all day. All fixed except for the /contact/ url which I've reported a bug for so I can track it.
Anything extant you know about?
I enabled your account btw.

DNS has been switched over.
The changes may take a day or more to propagate to everyone.
