Anyone would object if I remove this command? What it does is basically runs an SVG viewer on the current file. The idea behind this is unclear to me. If you want a parallel view of your file, "New view" would be just fine. So I think "New preview" is confusing and useless.

Ah, I was looking for something like that (if I understand you correctly, I'm on my home machine using dialup internet access and dont have Inkscape here).
I'd like to have a button to quickly preview an SVG in a Web Browser, that is to say in the Adobe SVG Viewer or (if I install it again) the SVG enabled version of Mozilla.
I have been trying to compare how Inkscapes rendering compares to the Adobe SVG Viewer and a streamlined process would be helpful. (Those comparisions haven't been very successful, the exampel documents from Jasc Web Draw dont turn out right in SVG, at first glance it seems like some sort of gradient problem. When I have time to take screenshots of how the files look in Inkscape && Adobe && WebDraw I'll get back to you).

New View

If this functionality is in fact "Preview in Browser" then it is certainly confusing which makes it useless in its current state but I think with minor changes it could be made genuinely useful.
