Re: [Inkscape-devel] Fwd: promoting SVG
yes, we can start a thread there. But we should keep updating people here at inkscape-devel about what we are planning for the contest.
I would pay $150 for half of the first prize if we decide that it will be a vinyl cutter. Anyway, I heard that maybe mozilla guys still didnt answer maybe because there is a mozilla meeting this week and everybody may be busy attending speaks and meeting mozilla people in person. Maybe we should wait to see whether we get some Mozilla funding after the event is over and this guys go back to "processing e-mail inbox" mode.

Hey Juca
Thanks for the great tutorial!
I am looking forward to doing my own experiments(after I learn javascript!)
Would it be wise to move this thread to the user list? There must be many more people there, perhaps we could get more sponsorship. I need some guidance on buying a cutter. At $300+ we have a long way to go to finding enough support to buy one plus shipping. If a vinyl cutter is the way to go we need to find an economical model(that is still good quality) and more financial support.
Thanks again-Patrick
P.S I did not find any reasonably active SVG mailing lists, is there such a thing?

well... now I think a vinyl cutter is too much for a prize. Let's focus simply on the mugs and maybe some t-shirts, stickers and small stuff.
Anybody who want to help, please list here exactly what are your offers so that we can sort them and decide which prize goes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places, etc.

Hey Juca
What about a cheap tablet? We should be able to find something cheaper then a vinyl cuter

Low end models start at under $100 but we have to make sure they work with Inkscape!!!
I was warned(on this list) to stay away from Wacom Bamboo fun. I am not sure what would be the best model, perhaps someone else could jump in on this one.

yesterday I was invited to a dinner here in Brazil with Chris Hofmann, from Mozilla. I showed him my SVG+javascript game and told him about the idea of promoting an SVG web development contest. He was very interested in helping us. He got my email address and told me he would return me a message soon.
He also filmed me while I was talking about the SVG game. So, once he uploads the video, I will send you the link :-)
Felipe Sanches (JucaBlues)
Very cool! Congrats on your progress with this initiative!

Hey,
sorry I haven't followed up with this - I've just moved.
I'd still like to sponsor some prizes, though I'm not sure if we decided not to do this but do money instead? What's the consensus again?

Cool!
There's also been some things talked about at SVG Open where I was thinking some SVG+interactivity was the thing, but couldn't remember off hand who'd done something.
I'll try to get details dug up and forward on to the list.
Congratulations again on that game
