Fedora 11 and text dialog

Fedora 11 now has .47pre(0) in the regular repository so everyone running it has received it in upgrades (why such an early beta in the main repository I don't understand but that's a Fedora issue...) - however, the text editing dialog is really broken in this version which gives Inkscape users on F11 a bad experience and impression. So it would be helpful for Fedora packager to update the repositories to the pre1 version. Of course, text editing is still not right in pre1 but at least doable. Better yet, is a pre2 being prepared ?
Meanwhile, when going to the .47 download page - only the windows versions are visible up top - but exploring further the mac and linux versions are all the way at the bottom of a long page. Shouldn't they all be in the same place ? (maybe Windows users just don't know how to scroll down :) Anyway both website and sourceforge page could use some clarification. If not being worked on, I'll try to hack on this.

hello there was some mockups of the brand new website not long time ago. look in history of maillist if you're interested.
cheers

This is the case not only to Fedora :)

Would you mind providing details?

sure - (note this is pre0 I believe since the Fedora pakcage is dated in May or June): 1) when you click on and select a text box, and then click the text edit top bar button, no text appears in the editing tab 2) if clicking on the box such that you can edit in place - as you delete characters, the text box decreases, then when you type new characters, the text box does not increase and the characters overwrite each other
After restoring a bad hard drive, I will compile from daily source today and see where this issue is at.

At the moment I am using this build: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=126456 and can't reproduce your problem.
A group of us in Fedora have extensively used Inkscape devel builds since its inclusion in around F11 Beta (so the maintainer was confident enough to push it in the final release) and I personally don't remember seeing this problem ever in a Fedora packaged build.

on pre1 it's still there - I just was encountering it on other files. Here's the problem / bug - when you click on a text element - the text outline shows up (with the drag arrows) - but when clicking on the top T button, the text and font does not show up in the edit dialog. But on clicking on the text element several times it does appear in the dialog for editing. However, even when the text does appear in the editing dialog, the font or font size does not show up. In addition, because of the lack of font info, the text is saved in the document as some other font and size and so you have to guess by trial and error what font and size it should be. This is a serious though not critical bug and as reported earlier, started with .46
I'll try to get the new pre2 installed today and test that
