Actually, justification is something I know a lot about... I even sent bryce a demo of my implementation of optimal line breaking but I don't think he understood it :)
Just out of curiosity, is your algorithm better than that of TeX? If so, how?

My algorithm does text in shapes properly. In every other way the two are equivalent (although not the same). TeX also provides Glue, which is easy to add, but I never needed it for my work. It should go into inkscape, however. I think mine is easier to understand in any case. I've put it in experimental/njh/dyn-text/ Just make it. run ./dyn-text.
