Hi, all. See below. Someone has contacted our <trademark@...3057...> account asking a few questions about Inkscape. I can certainly clarify the first question about user- or device-based licenses. But I couldn't find any minimum system requirements or recommended specifications on Inkscape's website.
Does Inkscape maintain a set of minimum system requirements for each OS? Please advise.
Thanks! -Tony

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am an external consultant and one of my customers would like to use your software title *Inkscape *in a commercial environment. I would like to confirm what license terms and user rights are applicable to this specific software title when used in a production environment.
According to your website http://www.inkscape.org/en/download/, it is a Free and Open Source Software licensed under the GPL http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html.
Nevertheless, can you please support me on the following topics:
1. Is it licensed by user or device?
2. Which OS (Operating Systems) are supported? According to your site, Windows, Macintosh and Linux but can you please be more specific, indicating the versions?
Do not hesitate to contact me in case you need further clarifications.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards,
Katarina Helena

Liam helped me scare up this info. Here's what I sent in, in case someone wants to put it on the website or in the readme or something:
os Windows: >= XP or >= WinNT 5.1 MacOSX: >= Leopard linux: >= Ubuntu 10.04, Fedora 12, RHEL 6.0 bsd: >= FreeBSD 8.0, OpenBSD 5.0, NetBSD 5.0
hardware Memory: 1 GB RAM CPU: > 1.5 GHz processor Disk: about 200 MB (on windows)

My Inkscape program directory takes ~270 MB on disk so it's "about 300 MB (on Windows)". I don't think the "> 1.5 GHz processor" is an useful indication: I have a Pentium IV 3.2 GHz and my usage experience is far from being more than twice the minimum recommended; maybe adding a reference processor family to give the clock frequency any sense? IMHO adding some minimum requirement to the graphic card would also provide a relevant indication. Luca

Inkscape does not use GPU acceleration in way right now, so the minimum requirement for the graphics card is "can display things on a monitor".
