I've just committed a new icon theme created by Plácido Sousa. I think it looks really good and encourage everyone to have a look at it. I think some of these icons are clearer and convey their meaning a tad better than the current ones. I'd be interested in the others' opinions.
You'll find the theme here: /share/inkscape/icons/crispy_icons.svg
To use the new theme, copy that file in your personal Inkscape icons directory (~/.inkscape/icons) and rerun Inkscape.

I'm definitely for going with this theme as a new default. It's nicely "hinted" to the result grid and really very well executed.
cheers

I agree. This theme is awesome! It is so clear and consistent!

I find it really clearer too. I even found functions I did'nt use (and buttons I haven't clicked on yet) just because the icons now meant visually something more than the "old" theme icons for the same button.
I really would prefer if it was the default theme.

Well, and I would prefer a mix from David Christian Berg's theme and this one - simply because I like Dave's tools icons more :) They are more colorful and same meaningful.

Hey guys!
I'm not a CVS junkie... can somebody give me a hint, how to take a look at the icon theme by Plácido without CVS?
Thanx!

Thanx! I've been trying to find it yesterday, but didn't manage :( I'm just not used to this, I guess.
The icons are very nice! I still prefer my own icons for some things, but many icons, but that's natural, esp, because the fit my desktop. Anyways: I'd be glad to see these icons to become default, because they get rid of the dull gnomish look of inkscape, which is esp. strange in windows.
Take care!

Considering the interface is a mix of own Inkscape icons and stock icons from the GTK+ theme, i consider the "dull gnomish look" a very big plus for the consistency of the toolbar.

Valid point. With the Gtkmmfication will there be more icons from the gnome-icon-theme be used? Because considering that many people don't use the default icon theme the point is far less valid :)

If what you want is seeing the theme in action, rename the file to 'icons.svg' and put it in your personal Inkscape icons directory ($HOME/.inkscape/icons under Linux/Unix) then rerun Inkscape.
