Hello Ivan and welcome, we are glad you want to help us with improving translations of Inkscape. The information you need to start translating Inkscape can be found at [1]. This wiki page is divided into several parts in which you can find information about things important to know about translating Inkscape. In short version what to do is: at first, it is good idea to subscribe to inkscape-translator@...6... list[2]. There you can discuss translations with another translators and announce new patches for translation you work on. It is also good idea to contact previous translator of bg.po file (bg.po file contains bulgarian translation of Inkscape) or translation group for your language and ask him/them if he does/doesn't work on it already - to prevent duplication of work. If he does not reply or gives you a green light, then you can move to another step - the translation. If he already translates GUI of Inkscape, there are still other things to translate, see [1] for list of translatable content ;)
For bg.po is the last translator: Alexander Shopov <ash@...1476...> Translation group: Bulgarian <dict@...1477...>
Now you can download bg.po from Inkscape's subversion repository and start your translation. Recommended tools are poEdit or Gtranslator but if you have your own favourite, you can use it too. The only requirement is to use UTF-8 encoding capable editor.
After you finish your translation, the next step is to test it( see [1] section InterfaceTranslation), upload your .po file to patch tracker(as bg.po file, please do not make .patch files, compress it instead if it reaches the upload limit of tracker) for Inkscape [3] and announce translation to the inkscape-translator mailing list. We will then review the file and if it is correct and works fine, it will be submited to svn trunk.
That was in short form described translation process of Inkscape's user interface. I hope I did not confuse you much and also I am looking forward to see you on the mailing list and your updates to bulgarian translation in the tracker :) For more information please read [1] and its subpages. If you find any question that is not answered there, feel free to post an e-mail to inkscape-translators, we will try to be as much helpful as we can be. Also you can join us on IRC or jabber rooms[4] about inkscape if you would like to know more. There is allways at least one or more translator(s) online.
