Is there support for object connectors in inkscape? I have not been able to find one. And if not, I am willing to contribute.

That would be nice. We have some beginnings of connectors that follow objects when you move them, similar to what diagram editors offer. This code is not enabled currently, because it's rather primitive and there's no UI. If you can code and are willing to work on them to make them really useful, it would be great. Peter Moulder was the author of the existing connector code, I hope he'll comment here with more specific details.
