Can it be fixed improperly? Might there be a simple assertion that we could slip in to diminish the severity?

OK, I decided to do a temp fix. Now it will just refuse to clip/mask an object with its own clone (or clone of clone, etc). Ugly patch but still better than the crash. This is a temporary fix until this is fixed properly. It will still crash, however, if you try to load a file which has an object clipped/masked by its clone, but at least the user will be unable to create such a situation from within inkscape. Release wardens please apply the patch (in the tracker) to 0.45.
