Hi all,
just noticed someone updated the front page for this year's summer of code (when I wanted to do that).
Was the change meant to be published, or is there a reason why it's not published yet?
Could any website editors, when they make a change that requires translation (i.e. not typo corrections), please send a short notice to the translators mailing list to notify us about the page that has been changed and the nature of the change?
We don't have any diffs for website edits anymore, and I'd find it unfortunate if we all had to rely on me noticing any changes for keeping translations of the website in sync.
Thank you!
Kind Regards, Maren

I'm interested in helping with the social media efforts for Inkscape. Which list(s) should I join to get up to speed?
Thanks,
Robert Sterbal robert@...3541... 412-977-3526 call/text

Hi Robert,
I'd like to suggest to you to join the docs mailing list, which is where website contents discussions use(d) to happen. However, the people with access to social media accounts have rarely been active there, you'll more easily catch them here on the devel list. Doesn't hurt to subscribe there, if you want to help with social media outreach, though.
If you're rather/also interested in helping with website news articles, please also create a user account at https://inkscape.org and request to join the editors' team.
Also, maybe you'd be able to attend tomorrow's board meeting? There will (hopefully) be some of the people with social media access, who can help get you set up.
(for times, see http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Board_Meetings)
Regards, Maren

Hmm, it says 2016 so unless something appeared and then disappeared it is a announcement from last year.
We should have an update for 2017. We've got two exciting projects, the first is to replace our SVG 1.2 wrapped text with SVG 2 (which has a natural fallback for non-SVG 2 renderers. And the second is work to improve Inkscapes' ability to work with CSS stylesheets.

There's a draft version of the front page which you can see if you are logged in and press the 'edit page' button (and make sure it says "content" in the toggle). This is what it says:
---
Google Summer of Code 2017
This is Inkscape's 12th year mentoring in Google's Summer of Code. We have two students this summer: Vishal Agarwal working on improving Inkscape's handling of CSS and Alexandru-Daniel Roman working on implementing SVG 2 text. We look forward to the results of their projects!
---
So it looks like Maren is asking if this was left unpublished and if it should have been published after all. Is suspect someone forgot to publish their changes.
Martin,

Hmm, I wonder if I did that. Yes, it should be published.

- Thank you both, Tav and Martin. Unfortunately, the latest django version doesn't seem to show who made an edit to a draft, so we might never know... ;-)
Publishing now.
