Just to confirm. Our preference is to try and load our icons from svg first and then default to xpm? I seem to remember reading something contrary to that in a code comment, not sure where now. Currently, I'm only looking at the xpm images when adding to the IconFactory, but I was planning on fixing that tonight.

This seems sensible to me, although I don't actually know.

Great idea in principle but keep in mind that small icons are best drawn pixel by pixel and manually antialias lines and edges for best effect but sharp detail where needed. I wouldn't personally consider trying to make SVG icons for anything smaller than 48x48 pixels. I might however use an SVG to produce tiny icons and clean them up later
