Ok, fd.o admin daniels has setup planet.inkscape.org for us which points to where planet inkscape is located on the fd.o server.
Who can setup inkscape.org to point to this on freedesktop.org?
I actually don't know how to do this...I'm admitting out of tiredness and lack of wanting to :) Actually, I would like to know how.
Bryce or Nicu said that Mental knows how to do this on sf.net?
Who can change this on sf.net so that we can start pointing to planet.inkscape.org?
You all can go ahead and start forwarding your blog links over to nicu (nicu@...398...). Thats right, if you don't have a blog, get one and hand over that RSS feed. If you want a good free one, try tribe.net, or use livejournal.com.
It is vital and you just won't be that cool without a blog :)

What this has anything to to with sf.net? They don't provide any DNS services, is an operation at the DNS level which should be made by the domain owner/registrant.

For *.inkscape.org domains, SF is involved for setting up the virtual hosts in Apache. For OCAL, you wouldn't need this, but instead would probably need to have an FDO admin set a virtual host in their apache.

Planet Inkscape will be hosted on f.d.o, not on sf.net and the virtual host is already configured (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3741) so the Apache part is solved, the Bind (DNS) part is not solved yet, and the DNS is not managed by sf.net neither by f.d.o. but if I am not mistaken, by GoDaddy.com

I think either Jon or Ted set up the domain name hosting, so can take care of the DNS settings.

Quoting Jon Phillips <jon@...235...>:

It's a DNS thing, not an SF thing. I've got to create a planet.inkscape.org record that points to the appropriate fd.o server.
(what's the appropriate fd.o server?)
Who can setup inkscape.org to point to this on freedesktop.org?
At the moment, just me, since I own the domain.
At the time I bought it, I had no real conception of the form the Inkscape project would end up taking (I'm not sure I'd even publically proposed the name at the time...).
It's not really right that I remain such a single-point-of-failure for a project that is otherwise so distributed, though.
It'd be nice if we could set up some kind of joint ownership thing, or something. Any suggestions on how we could set that up?

I see you figured this, made the configuration change and the planet is available now at http://planet.inkscape.org
