Hi all,
I really like the redesign of the Trace dialog, and I loved it when I first saw it. But later, I see two things that need to be adjusted before the release.
1. The SIOX button needs to be on the same view as the preview, since it alters how the selection is made. Normally, we want only an image and nothing else. With the SIOX checkbox pressed, we want the image, and also any curves which are above it in Z-order.
2. Much more important: The "Credits" frame is missing. We need to put it back. I (we) promised Peter Selinger that as long as we used Potrace, he would have obvious attribution for his stuff. He is a treasured benefactor of Inkscape, and we need to make sure that users know whence the technology comes. I am an active opponent of software patents, but if anyone really deserved a patent, it would be Mr. Selinger. Potrace is cutting technology, yet instead of trying to profit from it, he altruistically allows people like us to use it. Behaviour such as this needs to be encouraged. For example, the difference between Potrace 1.6 and 1.7 is a set of optimizations that he did explicitly for us. Cool guy! And all we need is a (3cm x 2cm) box with the name and URL on it.

Oops, both of those things have been fixed. I have been looking at an old version. Thanks, Bulia!

Hi,

You're right, the current location is a bit counter-intuitive. But i think few people understand the way siox works (and I'm one of them ;)). To hide it inside the "option" tab was probably not a bad thing either.
Well for now, I moved the siox button above the preview panel, but I have no time to include siox stuff in the prewiew.

Yeah, the credits frame was temporarily attached to the potrace options tab. As requested, I moved it out so it's now visible form the dialog's top level.
By the way I tried to clean up tracedialog.cpp code so it's a bit more readable.
Is it better now?
Stéphane.
