Debian package of Inkscape and printing with CUPS

Hello,
We ship the Inkscape 0.44 package from Debian Etch in the 64 Studio creative distro, and lately the printing support for local CUPS printers seems to be completely broken. There has also been a Debian bug opened, see:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=423952
Does anyone have Inkscape printing working on Etch, without resorting to lpr or another old-school method?
In 64 Studio, even manually pasting the output of lpstat -p into the Print dialogue box makes no difference, printing just fails silently. Any tips would be greatly appreciated :-)
Cheers!
Daniel

Hello all,
Does anyone have Inkscape printing working on Etch, without resorting to lpr or another old-school method?
I believe the problem is that the cupsys-bsd package, which provides the lpr interface to CUPS for backwards compatibility, is only a 'suggested' package for cupsys, not a dependency:
http://packages.debian.org/stable/net/cupsys
Also, cupsys-bsd is not a dependency of the Inkscape package:
http://packages.debian.org/stable/graphics/inkscape
Therefore it is possible to install both Inkscape and CUPS on Debian, without the cupsys-bsd package that enables them to work together. We'll add cupsys-bsd to 64 Studio and see if Inkscape printing will then work out of the box.
Cheers!
Daniel
