Hey, where is the 0.42 release at? I haven't heard much about lately on the list and am curious. Seems like a cap just needs to be put on it to get it out to the masses...they are hungry...
I haven't been keeping up so well with Inkscape development, but still seems like a refresher of what is happening is needed.

I've been working on a pre0 build for about a week, with various blocks. I got Peter's style-test update last night, and the build failed this morning for filedialog-win32.cpp not being in EXTRA_DIST for the po file generation. Hopefully, when I get home, there will be a pre0 :)
As far as bugs go, I think that Bryce even gave up on the reports. It isn't going quickly. I plan on working on "numbered bugs" after I can get pre0 out. Last I remember, there are 22 critical, which is the real issue.

There are several groups of critical bugs:
- two win2003 crashes - any takers who can debug on that system?
- several effects crashes - ted
- several layer crashes - mental
- easy packaging problems:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1167897&gr... https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1226498&gr...
- issues with new dialogs: transform freeze (ishmal), swatches (joncruz)
- assorted freezes and crashes, usually hard to reproduce
- the infamous extensions bug -
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1119649&gr...
do you think we can now close it, now that the error dialog is disabled?
So, to push the release forward, we need to encourage the people mentioned above to work on their bugs.
Also maybe kees will be able to join us for the bugfixing period, he did a wonderful job for 0.41.
A special thank you for cyreve who is closing a lot of bugs recently, even those outside his text code :)
As for me, I'm currently unable to work on Inkscape as much as I would like to, but I hope to return to it soon.
