Having the wiki on sf.net has not been a really happy happy deal. Perhaps we need to look at alternatives. I can ask the folks at modevia if they would consider hosting it.
Reguarding web performance on sf.net in general, I think perhaps we should submit a support ticket. And if need be consider other alternatives.

Around last release, RSS feeds were turned off to allow people accessing the web site at all. Maybe this is again the reason?
No, at that time the RSS feeds were generated on the fly by wordpress, and required significant processing on each hit to the home page.
The new RSS feed approach generates flat files by cron, independently of the homepage entirely.

Same thing with the screenshots. And we get those annoying quota notices every month but they never respond to our request for increased quota. I would favor moving the entire website to modevia, if we can also get SSH access to it for all our web maintainers.

That is one vote. I'll go ahead and ask. Just so I can give some numbers, who are "all our web maintainers"?

In theory, it could be anyone with a SF account in the Inkscape project, but realistically I think there's only about a dozen that are likely to do website changes (including translators).
