First, does anyone else who cannot make it have any good slides they would like us to show at either the booth or BOF ? Especially on advanced features ?
Booth notes: 1) Let's remember to bring a digital camera this year to post some booth photos (I'll try to remember to bring mine). 2) Any luck with drawing tablets ? 3) I'll bring my old LCD projector - does anyone have a better one ? 4) Let's all remember to bring power strips. 5) Does anyone have a 19" monitor ? If Wal-Mart still has them on sale for $199 maybe I'll get one. 6) our BOF is scheduled for Sat night 19:00 - 20:00. Shall we plan our dinner for Fri or Sat after BOF ? or both :) 7) We need to turn in our list of booth (free pass) volunteers. So far it looks like Ted, Josh, and myself. Anyone else coming ? Jon Cruz ? Ted, did you need a booth pass or do you get one as a featured speaker ? Josh, does your wife need a full pass or just an expo pass ?

I'll try to remember to bring mine as well.

If need be, I can bring mine if the Wacom folk can't come through. The calligraphy tool and proper node sculpting are must-show features.

No problem, how many?

What is going on with our booth during the BOF? Will one of us be manning it? (if so it would probably be me, and you guys would need to record the BOF for me then ;)) Either (or both) night(s) should work fine for us. We're going to try and leave Phoenix on Friday at around 10-11am with the hope of getting to the hotel at 5p (hopefully earlier but we're guesstimating based on rush hour).

I got in contact with Gareth regarding my wife and he said he would just give her an Inkscape exhibitor pass when he gets all the info from either you or Ted.
I'm pretty stoked guys. :)

The most recent presentation I've given is here:
inkscape_marketing/presentations/2006_09_PLUG
This presentation is done sort of on the theory that the best way to explain Inkscape is to show the types of things people can do with it, so it's just a brief intro and then a pile of screenshots. There's also a Slideshow directory with example images. If you have an extra machine you could just put it on a loop.

Also, I find that its good to consider your audience. If you are presenting to a bunch of artists, demoing the capabilities and great artwork generated is a must as well as generally covering features that are upcoming.
Developers generally want to hear more about details of code, community, how to get involved, as well as more detailed roadmap items. I also like to show off the extensions as a great entrypoint into getting involved.
FYI.

I think the audience at SCALE is very broad. It's more of a regional conference that looking at any particular group of people. There are a lot of people who are curious about Linux, and show up to learn more about it.
I would say that probably the largest group there are "IT Folks". Not really developers per se but they're interested in the technical aspects of the software. They're probably more interest in Inkscape as a Visio replacement than fine art. That being said, the best example of that I can remember of that type of stuff is from Bryce. Bryce, do you still have the server room diagram you made, oh, and the landscaping of your yard?

Josh, I know you were trying to get some folks at Deviant Art to let you display some of their stuff -- were you successful?

Will do.

No :( I'll send another e-mail to see if I can get a response...

I'll e-mail Gareth and see if he's got PCs for us. If he does, I think they'll come with LCDs.

Probably Saturday would be better for me. I'm thinking after the BOF. Places, places, places. I was thinking about maybe doing someplace a little more casual. That way we wouldn't need a reservation and we could invite people at the BOF and just move tables around. There is a place that I like called "El Segundo Fish Company" that I think would fit the bill. What does everyone think?

I've gotten Hillery to commit to helping us out on Saturday, so she'll need a pass. I'll send all her other info off list. I don't need a pass.
I'm still trying to convince Bryce to come... ;) Bryce, it's just down the coast... if you don't want to fly it should be a pretty short canoe ride! :)
