There were already some noises made at the hackfest about the next one, so I made a wiki page to record the very early planning / proposals:
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Hackfest2016
The possible locations mentioned at this year's hackfest were London, Leeds and Warsaw. I added some information about London and Warsaw. I never visited Leeds, but Alex should be able to provide further information.
Regards, Krzysztof

Thanks Krystof,
Leeds Eh, very interestin. I love taking the trans Pennine route. I've added some details for the wiki and it'd be great for people who've never seen post-industrial west yorkshire. (Leeds is only about 60 miles from where I'm from in Widnes. We could always do Leeds for the hackfest and take a train together to London for LGM.
I've seen London tons and I expect others have too Although I'd also like to see Warsaw.
London is a very solid contender. It's prices for inner city stay are frighting and the rooms are small. I think I've been spoiled by the hotel rooms in the US where they give you a flat's worth of space.
My promise to be there this time for reals!

Hi,
I will do in November an event in Cambodia called Fossography, main purpose of the even is to include asian contributors better into foss projects. Cambodia sounds far but flight costs are not more expensive as an flight from US to Europe, visa is not a problem there are only few countries excluded from the arrival one, so its pay get in. The hotels in Phnom Penh are extremly cheap, you get for 40$ an 5star hotel room but prices start with just 1$ a day (including breakfast and a bottle water a day). Same is for food, you get for 3-5$ a nice all you can eat khmer bbq.
Cambodias people are extremly welcoming and open, especially the youth who really likes to learn and work to change their lifes. Inkscape has already a lot of friends now there, I was last year twice in Phnom Penh and gave a lot of workshops how to use it. This was the last one in November organized by Development Innovations an US AID driven NGO and I trained there teachers and employees of other NGO so that they can use it in there lessons and working processes.
In addition I will have some budget for speakers and participants of hackfests, so could be a good possibility for Inkscape.

Checked the flight prices from Warsaw, indeed they're not terribly higher than to US, though all the options have two stops.
I know almost nothing about Cambodia, so if you want I can give you a wiki account and you can expand this proposal on the page.

Leeds is significantly cheaper than London (~half the cost!), and is a rail and budget airline hub, so it's easily accessible. Also, I should be able to get us a meeting room at the University either at low cost, or for free. If the next LGM is going to be held in London, it might be possible to start with a 3 day hackfest in Leeds, followed by a train ride to London for the LGM.
Warsaw is also very central for European delegates and easily accessible by low-cost airlines. I went to Cambodia about ten years ago, and it could be a very interesting (and low-cost) venue, although I wonder on balance, whether the average journey time for delegates is going to be quite long (given that most of us are in Western/Central Europe or the US).

So long as we have folks willing to do the fundraising and event coordination, there's not much reason we couldn't have hackfests in multiple locations. We have one successful hackfest under our belts, and the infrastructure for doing targeted donations. So I could definitely see one in Cambodia and another in Europe (Alex and KK would need to fight out whether England or Poland).
Perhaps if one is in Cambodia it could be a good option for Nathan, Peter, and some of the other old timers down under. Josh and I remarked how every other talk here at LGM touched on Inkscape, and half of those talks were about its use in various Asian nations, in relation to fonts, clothing fashion, print, etc. It would be great to open our development team to include folks from those countries.

Hi S.Kemter,
I take it this is a font/text oriented conference? I'm not sure we have a lot of developers with font interest specifically, but perhaps a visit to Cambodia might be interesting to some irregardless.
Can you create a page in our wiki for this conference, with pointer to your website and other details, such as Inkscape-specific opportunities (e.g. hackfests, workshops, presentations) being organized? It should also have travel and lodging cost estimates, like we did for Toronto, and how many to be sponsored; this will enable the board to vote on providing funding. If your group is going to cover some costs or provide sponsorship or other cost offsets that is worth mentioning so we can take that into account.
Cambodias people are extremly welcoming and open, especially the youth who really likes to learn and work to change their lifes. Inkscape has already a lot of friends now there, I was last year twice in Phnom Penh and gave a lot of workshops how to use it.
I mentioned in another email that I get the sense that there are a lot of users (and developers?) of Inkscape in eastern and southeastern Asia. Yet we see relatively few people from Asia active on our mailing lists or irc channels. Would you mind sharing your thoughts on why we aren't seeing them, what is holding back their participation, and what we might be able to do to rectify that?
