While approaching 0.46 release, here is an idea. With this new version we seem to have a flexible architecture for creating new grid types. But how exactly flexible is it? Could we probably use it to display composition guides like golden spiral? ;-)

I do not understand what it is that you'd like. Can you make a mockup?

Ah, I see. Definitely possible, and seems not too hard. Except for the spiral... that one would need a new snapper class I think.
