cc-svg documentation volunteer

On the Creative Commons metadata list, http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/cc-metadata , there was a call for getting something together on metadata in SVG. The discussion included a screenshot of Inkscape's current metadata entry slot, and a call for a quick conference tomorrow:

By the way, a short task for a volunteer: "port" http://web.resource.org/cc/modules/smil/ to SVG. Usage should be nearly identical. Then we can link to a CC-SVG recommendation on http://creativecommons.org/technology/usingmarkup.

So, Mike and Jon, how is tomorrow, friday Oct 8, at 11 PST, on #ccmb in IRC/freenode?

Should I show up for this too? I should probably be around to get a heads-up for any changes to the metadata input boxes.

Yes.
You and anybody else who might care about different aspects of it.

Sorry I didn't make it - could someone post a log or a summary?
Bryce

I was barely present, but from my perspective:
- I'm going to work with jon to get the XML set up nicely - CC would like to see a "best practice" publication on how to do it

Thanks, Bryce

Did you all push for getting some form of affiliation with CC on their site and on paper?
That would be great as well. Will our implementation of this be pushed in their publication materials?
Jon

Well... They seemed to think that my idea of trying to keep as compatible with Adobe and XMP as possible was a good goal. They were also in sync with Kees and I hammering out a canonical CC format/template for SVG.
From how our goals on metadata seem to align, I would wager to guess that
at the least we can get a nice how-to on their page with instructions on using Inkscape to deal with metadata. Also we can probably coordinate with others like the Scribus team and be the driving force to pull together stuff for the common good.
:-)

That sounds brilliant. I'm supposed to speak on a panel at the sfmoma.org on NOV 18 ( http://www.sfmoma.org/calendar/calendar_month.asp ) with my artist friend Greg Niemeyer along with the assistant director of creative commons, Neeru Paharia. I'm saying this FYI, as this sounds like another good crossover with creative commons folk.
Jon and Kees...thx for attending that meeting and making some headway. That is really great of you guys!
