inkscape-0.92pre0 source tarball
The alpha for Inkscape 0.92, inkscape-0.92pre0, is released and available for testing from the Download page:
https://inkscape.org/en/download/source/
The release is:
0.92pre0 Source Tarball Bzip https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/item/9591/inkscape-0.92pre0.tar.bz2
This is an early preview of our upcoming release and as such can be expected to have some stability issues or incomplete features. See Inkscape's bug tracker for a list of known issues.
== Translation ==
Translators are encouraged to start looking at translation work. String freeze will be in one week (May 22nd), but the i18n POT file has been updated in trunk and we do not anticipate any serious changes between now and string freeze so please feel free to start preparing your language translations.
Please aim to get all translation work committed by mid-June.
== Packaging ==
Packagers for Linux, Windows, and OSX should use this source tarball for creating packages for their respective platforms. Note that this was produced using the new cmake system, and the autoconfig build files are not included in this dist; if you require the autoconfig system for your platform you can still generate an autoconfig tarball from our VCS trunk, however you should prioritize shifting to cmake as we will be dropping autoconfig in the future 0.93 release.
I plan to post further pre-releases on a roughly weekly cadence until we feel the codebase is stable enough for the final release, which would be late June at the earliest.
== About Screen ==
An About Screen contest should be started at this time - Josh, you've run this contest in the past, will you be available to do it again for 0.92? Can the contest be organized to complete by mid-June or do you think it would require more time than that?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks, Bryce
Yeah, I can head it up. The contest itself can be run over the course of a month (with an extra week for voting). The question is where are we running it this time? I can do it on DA again as has been done historically, or if we have a voting/poll mechanism on the website, we can give it a shot there. Martin, do you think our website would be able to accommodate such a thing?
Cheers, Josh

Mobile security can be enabling, not merely restricting. Employees who bring their own devices (BYOD) to work are irked by the imposition of MDM restrictions. Mobile Device Manager Plus allows you to control only the apps on BYO-devices by containerizing them, leaving personal data untouched! https://ad.doubleclick.net/ddm/clk/304595813;131938128;j _______________________________________________ Inkscape-devel mailing list Inkscape-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/inkscape-devel
Josh, there was actually a page prepared for it (I guess the email I sent half a year ago or so about this must have been lost).
https://inkscape.org/en/about-screen-contests/
Unfortunately, that page gives a server error atm.... :/
Martin - I guess you got the server error info mail... Would you have a look? I guess it has to do with the cms-plugin (it works locally, without the plugin and the files).
Maybe we could do a short test run with the help of a few devs, first, when the page loads again :)
Kind Regards, Maren

I fixed it a few days ago. I'm deploying the fix now.

The website is in a very healthy place for running this. Certainly in terms of having people submit items, having the svg supported natively (unlike deviantArt), we have comments, we can restrict licenses for the contest category.
And we can vote for each of the works.
Let me know if you'd like a run down of how to run this thing on the website this time round.
Best Regards, Martin Owens
Awesome news! I would greatly appreciate a rundown on how to run it via the website. I think Maren's idea of doing a short test run would be great to try it out.
Cheers, Josh
