In release notes for 0.43 it is mentioned that there is a standalone utility to import DXF files that was developed by Matt Squires. This code has moved to Inkscape's trunk since then (three months ago). I'm curious if it should be mentioned in release notes for 0.44, since Inkscape has only DXF export for desktop plotters officially now ;-)

Playing as developer - no, I have no skills for that. Playing as user - also no, since DXF is not listed in file formats checkbox by importing and is not recognized as supported file format at all.
