Developer Meeting, July 18th 2024
Hi all,
Following are the meeting notes for the Developer Meeting on 18th July 2024:
Attending: Rene, Tav, Ishaan, Elendil (Krlr17), Ravi, Jonathan, Marc, Ravi
Martin and Tav went through Bugfix Accelerator MRs.
1.4beta2 can be tagged and release files can be done basically whenever.
A tentative date is 1 August (for release files / installers), to give enough time for people to get fixes in. When we have installers, Vectors can decide when to actually announce. Some discussion on getting some MRs in before the beta2.
Jonathan suggested to get afdesign import into extensions for Into 1.4.0.
Some issues in building exe version of Windows, CI is failing.
Items to BACKPORT for 1.4.0:
- Remove LPE from Pen icon
- Fix orientation bug while printing
- Fix crash on aligning text when nothing is selected.
- Updated context menu selection logic
- Fix ghost page when deleting the first page from the XML dialog
- Update ja.po

thanks for the notes!
Did you mean August 1 for the beta1 (which is the tag Marc used in his MR) or for the actual 1.4? (you just call it release files, there's some ambiguity for me there).

Hi Maren,
My bad, I should have been more explicit. The tentative date - 1 August - is for the second beta of 1.4, for which Marc used the branch name "1.4beta1" (https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/merge_requests/6597). Marc hasn't tagged anything yet, though. It's just an MR. When tagged, an entry would appear here - https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/tags
The plan is to create the release files / installers for 1.4beta1 till 1st August.
The date for the actual 1.4 release has not been decided yet to my knowledge.
