pre3 - Dapper compile errors - littleCMS
Am trying to compile on Dapper - added the perl xml and libgc dependencies but now it fails on a little CMS dependency that I can't find in synaptic. Any ideas ?
It may be named something different. Look for variations on "little CMS" like lcms, liblcms, libcms, etc.

It might be this one: http://packages.ubuntulinux.org/dapper/libdevel/liblcms1-dev .
If you are eventually happy with your setup for compiling on Ubuntu, could you review the Wiki page at http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/CompilingUbuntu , and perhaps make any changes that appear necessary.
I suspect that the documentation lags behind the fact that Little CMS support is now "on" by default, I may be completely wrong ...

Thks Ben, Yes, it was the liblcms1 "-dev" package that was needed. And it was my intention to update the wiki, but then I ran into all kinds of other dependency issues with the gtk/gtkmm packages as if I needed a lesser version. Since I'm switching to a mac next week and 0.44 is almost out the door with binaries, I just let it go timewise.

If you run into problems building or packaging for the Mac, then please pipe up again. I am having difficulty a) linking with perl, b) making distcheck and c) creating the package; The Mac wiki pages certainly need attention, but I am a little reluctant to to do too much until I am sure of my facts.
